I want to learn the clarinet and have a maximum of €250 to spend. Which system would you recommend? I’m from Moria and want to play traditional music from the region and beyond.
@colectorgram can you help?
“You know a thing or two about the clarinet ;-)”
Well, my grandfather is no longer alive for me to send you there, so I’d suggest looking for clarinettists who have worked with Theofilos. I don’t know which of them are still alive, but you’re bound to find someone. Here’s one of them (I don’t know whether he teaches, but I hope he does — or perhaps he knows where you can go to learn):
In general, I recommend looking for the best people. It would be better to spend the same amount of money on two hours with the best teacher, who will teach you properly, than to go anywhere and still not get anywhere after a little while, once the money in your budget runs out. Because when it does, you need to have material to study — in other words, you need to know how to practise until you can find the money for a teacher again.
Wouldn’t it be better for me to go to a teacher with experience? I’m thinking of going to a conservatoire to learn traditional clarinet.
