Im looking for some advice.I will be in the athens area in mid-april. Im looking for some suggestions, where to go for an excellent sounding bouzouki? new or used. I’ve heard from many people not to order one,because chances are I would find one ready. does anyone have any suggestions? any help would be appreciated.
Nick, go see Karandreas his shop is in Athens down the street from Odos Fylis, walk down the street from Odos Fylis and you will find his shop. He doesn’t make junk but excellent bouzoukia and his work is excellent. Another is Tkakirian in Omonia Athens Karolos makes very good bouzoukia as well. He is located near Omonia square. Expect to pay 1000 to 1500 Euro for a great bouzouki. If you want good used bouzouki go to Pireaus and down the street from the daily flee market off of Posidonas you will find a couple of music stores if you walk down the alley you will find Mountarides place he is excellent and makes new as well as restores used bouzoukia
