When did these composers die?

Hi folks, I was hoping you could help me with my research. I’m writing a rebetiko novel and need to know when these composers died (I can only use songs by guys dead 50+ years). My internet search has led me nowhere fast!

I read Greek, by the way, but don’t write it. Here’s my list:

Tsovenos
Kamvisis
Savvidis
Karras
Roumeliotis
Mihailidis
Psyriotis
Barousis
Memetis
Modanari

Kyvelli, I am not a doctor to this matter, you can find many people here in, with much more knowledge to help you in this, (but I am not sure they would aprove somebody who tries to get easy informations without much study, which I partially respect as well from their side), yet here is a try (since I believe that when you have little knowledge and little time as well to study seriously, the only way to know more is to share your little with other people’s one):

The only rembetis I know, who died around 1945 (and this way comples with your criteria, since he is dead +50 year ago) is Anestis Dellias, one of the four members of the Famous Rembetiko Quartet of Piraeus (Rembetiki Tetras Xakousti tou Pirea) along with Marcos Vamvakaris, George Batis and Stratos Pagioumtzis.

He died from drugs and a song written from him as a profecy for his end is Είμαι πρεζάκιας or Ο πόνος του πρεζάκια and I am not if this is the same song or not. I wrote these in greek just in case you need to get them from the internet by searching.

Finally, I writte this in english because I am not sure you would understand full in greek and (as I get it) you need the informations for your effort.

Thanks for your time. I had that date, however. The names I have posted seem the hardest to find. And I do understand/read Greek.

For the record, I have been researching rebetiko matters for almost 8 years now for a novel I am writing. If anyone has the dates for any of the other fellows, please forward them.

Πάντως, σύμφωνα με το Μάρκο Βαμβακάρη, στην αυτοβιογραφία του (Αγγελικής Βέλλου - Καϊλ, εκδόσεις Παπαζήση, νομίζω), ο Δελιάς πέθανε το 1943. Χαρακτηριστικά, αντιγράφω το σχετικό απόσπασμα:
[i]“…Απʼ την πρέζα πέθανε αυτός, με τη Σκολαρικού. Και οι δυό επέσανε με τη μούρη σ’ αυτό, γυναίκα καί άντρας, και πέθανε στον αποκλεισμό. Στο σαραντατρίο τον βρήκανε χάμω. Πέθανε από την πείνα, έπινε καί πρέζα και πέθανε. Αυτό ήτανε το τέλος αυτουνού. Ακριβώς όπως το είπε σ’ ένα τραγούδι.
…Άπ’ τον καιρό που άρχισα την πρέζα να φουμάρω ο κόσμος μʼ απαρνήθηκε δεν ξέρω τι να κάνω…
Θεός σχωρέστον. Καλό παιδί ήταν μαζί μας, καλό, όμορφο, εντάξει παιδί…”

Όπως αποδεικνύεται από έρευνα του Δημ. Υφαντή (περιοδικό “Λαϊκό τραγούδι”, τεύχος 20)
ο Δελιάς πέθανε το 1944.
Έρευνα βασισμένη στα αρχεία του Δρομοκαΐτειου , από όπου φαίνεται πως ο Ανέστος πήρε εξιτήριο από το Θεραπευτήριο αυτό στις 28 Φεβρουαρίου του ΄44 και μετά από λίγους μήνες είχε βρεθεί νεκρός στο δρόμο.

Thanks folks. But Delias is one of the easiest guys to track in terms of his tragic end. It is the more obscure composers that are difficult.
