Syngrou (settlement): in late 1922, a tent camp was established around the «Syngrou» Infectious Diseases Hospital by refugees from Vourla, Sivrisari and Koukloutza in Asia Minor, under the provisional name «Syngrou Settlement». Later, as it expanded towards the banks of the Iridanos, it was given the permanent name «Kaisariani».
It is mentioned in Tountas’s song «At Syngrou» (1930)
Ahhh, with such charms, my beautiful little tease,
no other in the world has them, my lovely darling,
that’s why I want you to be my sweetheart,
so everyone will envy us there at Syngrou
