I had the honour of meeting Mr Kounadis at the 2nd Rebetiko Festival in Athens. He was very kind, answered my question about whether German music could have influenced rebetiko, and even took the floor when I gave a presentation on rebetiko in Germany. I was overjoyed; thank you, Mr Kounadis!
