Help finding an instrument maker

Good evening everyone. I bought a second-hand three-course bouzouki in 2010, but I don’t know who made it. Inside the body, it says “12-00” in marker, which I assume is the date it was made. Perhaps, with your experience, you might be able to tell from the materials and craftsmanship who may have made it. Thank you very much.

Welcome to the group!

Without a label, identification is difficult, but there have been similar discussions here, and some of them have led to an identification.

If you can:

  • Upload some more photos in good resolution: the entire instrument from the front and back, the pegbox, the fingerboard, the rosette, the bridge and the body.
  • Using a small mirror (like a dentist’s mirror) and your phone’s torch, look inside for another signature or stamp, especially underneath the soundboard.
  • Every instrument maker has their own “signatures” (pegbox, decoration, tuning pegs), so you could also show the photos to an instrument maker, who can often recognise the work of a fellow craftsman.

Where did you buy it (which town or shop), and does the previous owner know anything? Any information like that is a great help.
