Βασίλης Τσαφούρος

Ο εν λόγω κιθαρίστας δούλευε με τον Τόλη Χάρμα. Γνωρίζει κάποιος εαν είναι ακόμα ενεργός;

When I was about 20, I met Vassilis. At the time, he was playing with Giorgos Kefalas from “Trio Kitara”. They took me along, and for one season we played with Tolis Charmas on the beach at Flisvos… Years went by, and I never saw that man again. There’s no trace of him on the internet either. He was a good guitarist and had a lovely voice. He and Kefalas performed wonderful duets, singing many Latin American songs.

Anyone who’s on Facebook, could you ask Vasilis Karathanasis about this, since he’s mentioned here?

A very interesting interview.

At 55 minutes, Tolis talks about Greek folk music and clarifies the terms “Rebetiko” and “rebetologists”.

Pay a little attention there.

The guitarist who played with Apostolis Charmantas at Flisvos in 1984 has finally been identified.

His correct name is Vasilis Tsapouros (he plays with Charmantas in the 2008 video.)

So which one is correct now?

Tsapouros or Tsafouros?

The lettering at the end of the video spells his name „Tsapouros“.

Vasilis Tsafouros is his name.

Tolis Harmas (Apostolis Charmantas) 1918–2008.

Giorgos Kefalas (third from the right)

Trio Kitara.

What he expressed perfectly clearly was that “Giorgos Zambetas is bel canto” (meaning “he isn’t a rebetis”). He said nothing else that hadn’t already been said and certainly didn’t “clarify” anything (regarding the terminology or the “rebetologists”).
