Dear Colleagues,

I write to inform you that the sixth annual HYDRA REBETIKO CONFERENCE will
be held on the Island of Hydra on Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 October 2006.

Website: [www.geocities.com/HydraGathering](http://www.geocities.com/HydraGathering)

The conference is a 3-day event consisting of formal presentations of
papers, musical workshops, and evening concerts held in restaurants of the
island.

Papers are invited for this year’s conference. The principal theme is
“ETHNICITY, NATIONALISMS AND DISAPORAS”. Our main focus is Rebetiko, but
contributions are welcomed in other areas of Greek popular music and
culture.

If you wish to present a paper, or wish to register to attend the
conference, please send your contact details to [rebetology@yahoo.com](mailto:rebetology@yahoo.com)

With best regards,

Ed Emery
